Property Description

Nestled along one of Gualala's most coveted stretches of coastline, neighboring the Gualala River and the renowned Gualala Arts Center, this extraordinary compound offers a rare combination of seclusion, convenience, and breathtaking natural beauty. Spanning more than nine pristine acres, the property unfolds like a private nature preserve, where seasonal creeks, towering redwoods, and winding park-like trails evoke the serenity of Mendocino County's most treasured state parks. Identify local birds, and quietly connect with resident mammals all from the comfort of your very own oasis. Originally envisioned by acclaimed local designer and artist Ralph Matheson, this three-bedroom, two-bath residence is a timeless expression of Northern California craftsmanship. Soaring skylights invite shifting patterns of natural light through the redwood canopy, illuminating warm cedar-paneled interiors and creating an ever-changing connection to the surrounding landscape. Constructed through the collaboration of talented local artisans and dedicated friends, the home balances thoughtful contemporary updates with its original artistic vision. Bespoke kitchen countertops, premium stainless-steel appliances, custom built-in cabinetry, and charming cottage-style windows blend seamlessly with clean architectural lines to create an inviting living environment that feels both refined and authentic. A second workshop space provides an additional bathroom and flex space for guests and long-term visitors. Just minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, farmers markets, and other local amenities, this unique property combines the tranquility of a private woodland setting with the convenience of coastal village living. Lovingly stewarded by its current owners for the past 24 years, this remarkable sanctuary is now ready to welcome its next chapter.
